We are coming up to some of my favorite holidays of the year!  It got me thinking about astrology and how each Sun Sign oddly relates to the holidays that fall in their season.  If you read my Ruling Planet post, it actually makes even more sense.  I hope you all enjoy this fun and festive post xo

Coincides with the March Equinox

Celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Aries is a symbol of innocence, which fits quite nicely with this specific holiday.

Cinco de Mayo

May 5th
It celebrates the defeat of the French army during the Battle of Puebla (Batalla de Puebla) in Mexico.  This holiday is an excuse for Americans to drink Corona and tequila.  I’m not complaining.

Memorial Day

The last Monday in May
This holiday commemorates all men and women, who have died in military service for the United States.  I always honor this day with stories of my grandpa who served in the Marines.  Then I usually go enjoy my day off with friends.  Floats in the pool?  Yes pleas!

Independence Day

July 4th
This holiday commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from Great Britain.  This is such a Cancer-esque holiday.  Fireworks, family, and BBQ.  What could be any better?

Summer Vacation

There are no holidays in Leo Season, but I think Summer vacay suits them well.  Get your beach towels and sunscreen.  Leos are beach babes for sure.  They are ruled by the Sun after all.

Labor Day

First Monday in September
It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.  How perfect is that for the extremely hard working Virgos out there?  They need a break, but probably spend the day cleaning their house.

Valentines Day

February 14th
It is celebrated in many countries around the world to do something special for the ones you love.  So you are probably like, “Shouldn’t this be Aquarius’ holiday?”  Hell no it should not.  Aquarius is not really known to be romantic, at all.  Libra is ruled by Venus, the planet of love.  They are all about pink, hearts, charm, and sweet stuff.  I’m convinced someone messed the date up.

October 31st
Halloween is dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed believers.  It is believed to originally have pagan roots where they celebrated Autumn’s harvest.  Of course Scorpio is perfectly placed here.  Us Scorpios do rule death after all.  Creepy, dark, hiding in a costume; all right up Scorpios dark cobwebbed alley.

Fourth Thursday in November

This is a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year.  Sag’s are known to usually not stick around home too long after they have grown up.  They probably don’t even live anywhere near their families, because they are out spreading their wanderlust wings experiencing the world.  This is a great time for them to get with their families they don’t see as much as they may like.

December 25th
Christmas Day is a Christian holiday commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ.  This is a great time for the hard working Cappy to get in their fuzzy sweaters, and put their feet up.  They love seeing their hard earned dollars being enjoyed by the gifts they get for family and friends.  A cozy sweater, a hot cup of coffee, and the smell of balsam is Capricorn heaven.

Groundhog’s Day
February 2nd

According to Groundhog Day folklore, if the groundhog emerges from his burrow and sees his shadow (sunny morning), winter will last another six weeks. Can you see your shadow?  This is possibly the wackiest of holidays, which means that it is perfect for Aquarius.  In mythology, Aquarius rules the weather.  Hence the jug of water she caries around.  So having a groundhog popping out of a hole to tell you if spring is coming comically fits with this sign.

St. Patrick’s Day

March 17th
The day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland.  We all know that Pisces love to drink like fishes (pun intended).  And the color green is quite fitting for this sign as well.  Get ready for car bombs and Guinness.  Yum!
